Selection Policy
The following factors will be taken into account in the club's
selection policy:
1) Our primary playing objective is to provide coaching so that all teams improve in terms
of ability and tactics and thereby increase their chances of winning their respective leagues.
2) The men's and women's sections run on a squad system. Team squads are established at the beginning
of season (for example the women's section run a trials day in September) but there will be movement of players between
squads where justified: squads are not to be regarded as fixed for
the entire season.
3) Coaches, club officers, umpires and other observers give
feedback throughout the season to the club captains if they
watch a player who is plainly in the wrong squad for whatever reason.
4) The selection of teams is based primarily on playing form at
the time of selection.
5) If there are players of equal merit
in ability and form, team captains will consider more favourably
for selection players who:
· are reliable, eg don't cry off at the last minute or without warning
· are regularly available to play
· attend training
· pay their subscriptions on time
6) In addition, the following behaviours will be influential in selection policy:
· availability and reliability during their period of membership
· contributing to the club off the field of play, including
assisting with administration
· socialising after matches
· attending social functions
· supporting the 1st XIs at league and cup matches
7) If any player feels they are being unjustly treated in the selection
process, they should first discuss this with their team captain.
If they are dissatisfied with the response, they should refer
the issue to their club captain.
