1st XI beat Cannock

The Men's 1s won their first game of the season 4-2 away at Cannock. A fast paced game saw both sides with chances to take the lead early on, with Cannock putting a lot of pressure on the Hampstead defence. However, it took until the 19th minute for the first goal when Stephane Vehrle-Smith scored a penalty corner drag flick. Will Naylor then doubled the lead on 27minutes with a fine individual effort afterCannock had failed to deal with a long ball out of the Hampstead defence. Cannock pulled a goal back on the stroke of half time with a penalty corner goal.

Hampstead won the game in a three minute spell at the start of the second half when Aidie Palmer scored from close range and then Dan Fox hit a backhand shot low past the keeper to make it 4-1. Cannock scored again on 48 minutes from a penalty corner, but inspite of having a lot of possession thereafter they were unable to pull another goal back.

This is the teams very first Premier league victory at Cannock.

Club Day 2010

HWHC Club Day 2010 was a great success. Many thanks to all involved: volunteers, chefs, supporters, and everyone that came to play.

See some of the playing photos from Club Day 2010 here:Playing Photos (apologies in advance - they were very lazily taken photos).

Stephen Blackney

It is with great sadness that we report the sudden death of Stephen Blackney, thebig SuperVets Australian,on 7th July. Steve participated fully last season, but succumbed very quickly to a stroke which was disguising advanced pancreatic cancer.

Steve joined Hampstead in 1986 and played in the 2s and 3s before leaving to coach at Tulse Hill. During his time away he still playedmidweekgames for the Vets and came on many of their foreign tours, accompanied by his wife Sally. We were very pleased when he returned to the club to play full-time SuperVets three seasons ago where hewas a stalwart in defence.

He will be greatly missed on the field and off.

Paul Clements.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
